The Heather Hospitality Group is a collection of unique and diverse restaurants and cafes located in the heart of historic Gastown. We opened our doors in 1997 with our flagship restaurant,The Irish Heather Gastropub and Shebeen Whisk(e)y House, for many years the only authentic Irish pub run by Irish people, in Vancouver.
At the Irish Heather we proudly pour proper pints of Guinness, serve comfort food favourites like bangers & mash, pot pies and chips with curry sauce. The Shebeen is located in a separate building behind the Irish Heather with its own court yard, front door, bar, bartender and space for 60 guests. The Shebeen Whisk(e)y House is home to the largest selection of Single Malt, Bourbon, Rye, Scotch and Irish in Vancouver and is a must see for whisk(e)y lovers.
In 2004 we opened up the Salty Tongue Cafe, where we have a full liquor licence, serve up coffee made with locally roasted 100% organic arabica beans, homemade soup, salads and sandwiches made on freshly baked bread. The Salty Tongue Cafe is home to the 40 foot long communal table, which turns into the Irish Heather Dining room at night and where we host the Long Table Series.
In 2006 we opened up Salt Tasting Room, a room specializing in artisanal cheese, small-batch cured meats, and a dynamic array of wines, beers and sherries. Our menu is simple. Guests assemble a Tasting Plate from our chalkboard’s selection of 10 cheeses, 10 meats, and 10 condiments. The selections change constantly, making it almost impossible to have the same Salt experience twice. Through the door and down the stairs you find yourself in the Salt Cellar, where you can join us on our communal table for our Cellar Series events as we celebrate amazing wine, cheese, and charcuterie producers.
